NOT MUCH IS KNOWN OF THIS APOSTLE. SINCE MATTHEW & LEVI WAS DESCRIBED AS THE SON OF ALPHAEUS, JAMES AND MATTHEW MAY HAVE BEEN BROTHERS ALSO OR THE SON OF ALPHAEUS MAY HOLD A SYMBOLIC MEANING. HE IS NOT DISTINGUISHED BY NAME IN ANY OCCASION WRITTEN IN THE FOUR GOSPELS OR ACTS. BUT, BEING A MEMBER OF THE TWELVE APOSTLES HE MUST HAVE BEEN AN IMPORTANT MESSENGER FOR JESUS TO BE A CHOSEN DISCIPLE OF THE CHOSEN 12 APOSTLES.
