7. BARTHOLOMEW ALSO MAY HAVE BEEN NATHANAEL
NATHANAEL WAS THE APOSTLE WHOM JESUS COMPLIMENTED
ON BEING GUILELESS JOHN 1;47 NATHANAEL WAS ALSO KNOWN AS BARTHOLOMEW
AND WAS INTRODUCED TO JESUS BY THE APOSTLE PHILIP, WHICH NATHANAEL EXPRESSED
HIS DOUBT BY SAYING " CAN THEIR ANY GOOD THING COME OUT OF NAZARETH?" AS
NATHANAEL MAY HAVE FELT NAZARETH A INSIGNIFICANT TOWN AND HARDLY
THE CITY OF WHICH THE MESSIAH WOULD COME FROM. BUT AFTER SEEING AND HEARING
JESUS, NATHANAEL LATER IDENTIFIED JESUS AS THE MESSIAH AND SHOWED HIS LOVE
AND DEVOTION BY FOLLOWING THE LORD WHEN ASKED. IT IS BELIEVED THAT NANTHANIEL
WAS FROM THE AREA OF CANA, ALSO IN THE AREA OF GALILEE. NATHANAEL WAS VERY
KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THE SCRIPTURES AND HAD MANY CONVERSATIONS WITH JESUS ON
MANY THEOLOGIES AND THEIR MEANING OF THE OLD TESTAMENT.

Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into
any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

15 And to have power to heal

16 And Simon he surnamed Peter;
17 And James the son of Zebedee,
and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is,
The sons of thunder:
18 And Andrew, and Philip, and
Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and
Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,
19 And Judas Iscariot, which
also betrayed him: and they went into an house.

unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named
apostles;
14 Simon, (whom he also named
Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,
15 Matthew and Thomas, James
the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes,
16 And Judas the brother of
James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.
17 And he came down with them,
and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude
of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre
and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

Nathanael answered and saith
43 The day following Jesus would
go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida,
the city of Andrew and Peter.
45 Philip findeth Nathanael,
and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the
prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
46 And Nathanael said unto him,
Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come
and see.
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming
to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
48 Nathanael saith unto him,
Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip
called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
49 Nathanael answered and saith
unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
50 Jesus answered and said unto
him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest
thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
51 And he saith unto him, Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels
of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
KJV John 21:2
called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in
1 After these things Jesus shewed
himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise
shewed he himself.
2 There were together Simon
Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and
the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
3 Simon Peter saith unto them,
I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth,
and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
4 But when the morning was now
come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was
Jesus.
5 Then Jesus saith unto them,
Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.
6 And he said unto them, Cast
the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore,
and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
