JOHN WAS THE BROTHER OF JAMES AND ALSO THE SON OF ZEBEDEE. JOHN'S MOTHER WAS SALOME WHO WAS BELIEVED TO BE THE SISTER OF THE VIRGIN MARY, WHICH WOULD HAVE HAD MADE JOHN AND JAMES, THE COUSINS OF JESUS. JOHN LIVED IN THE AREA OF GALILEE AND WAS ALSO A FISHERMAN WITH HIS BROTHER JAMES AND WAS FRIENDS AND FISHING PARTNERS WITH THE BROTHERS PETER AND ANDREW. JOHN WAS A FOLLOWER OF JOHN THE BAPTIST, IN WHICH WITH PETER AND ANDREW FOLLOWED JESUS. JESUS HAD NAMED JOHN AND JAMES THE SONS OF THUNDER AND JOHN WAS ONE OF THE MOST PROMINENT MEMBER OF THE TWELVE APOSTLES AND THE ONE WHICH JESUS DEEPLY LOVED. JOHN ALONG WITH JAMES AND PETER APPEARS TO BE THE THREE CLOSEST TO JESUS AND ALL THREE WERE PRESENT AT THE RAISING OF JAIRUS'S DAUGHTER, THE TRANSFIGURATION, ALL THREE WERE PRESENT WITH JESUS DURING HIS AGONY AT GETHSEMANE, AND JOHN WAS PRESENT AT THE CROSS WHEN JESUS WAS CRUCIFIED AND JESUS ASKED JOHN TO LOOK AFTER HIS MOTHER. FIVE BOOKS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT ARE ATTRIBUTED TO JOHN WHICH ARE THE FOURTH GOSPEL,THREE LETTER, AND THE FINAL CHAPTER OF THE BIBLE, THE BOOK OF REVELATION. THE DEATH OF JOHN IS UNSURE, BUT HE MAY HAVE BEEN THE ONLY APOSTLE TO DIE OF OLD AGE OR NATURAL DEATH.
